| The Catering Equipment Association (owners of CATEX) continue to invest heavily into the content of the show, and along with their Industry partners (Including The Panel of Chefs of Ireland, The Restaurant Association of Ireland, The Catering Managers Institute, The Bartenders Association of Ireland, The Speciality Coffee Association of Europe, and the Irish Hospitality Institute) have further enhanced the appeal of the show with additional features for CATEX 2009 such as a dedicated speciality food market, an energy management pavilion, and two state of the art international hot kitchens which will play host to six international teams competing against each other over the three days. |

| CHEF IRELAND INTERNATIONAL HOT KITCHENS |
| One of the major new features of CATEX 2009 will be an international culinary competition between six international teams over three days in two custom-built and professionally-designed glass-walled kitchens, open to public view. |

| Teams of five chefs will prepare, cook and present a three-course gourmet lunch for 60 invited guests in adjoining ‘restaurants’ with a panel of experts marking each entry under various criteria. |

CHEF IRELAND LIVE THEATRE
No less than 280 chefs will compete in 10 live hot-stations every 40 minutes during the 3-day show in a series of 25 individual competitions. The best of our |
| homegrown talent will test their skills against each other in front of the public and three expert judges. |

After its successful introduction at the 2007 show, Chefs’ Choice will again be one of the outstanding attractions at CATEX 2009, reflecting the growing consumer demand for organic and natural foods. Chefs’ Choice is an opportunity for businesses who supply high quality, natural foods and
ingredients to the food service and catering industries to showcase their products to a discerning audience. |

| ENERGY MANAGEMENT PAVILION |
| It is incumbent on the hospitality sector to play its part as good corporate citizens by reducing energy consumption and wastage and by actively seeking alternative energy sources. The latest developments in renewable and sustainable energy technologies will again be on display in the special pavilion to give a much-needed extra incentive to such important considerations. |

| COFFEE CULTURE |
| In view of its growing popularity on the Irish scene, coffee again features strongly at CATEX. Coffee specialists – many of them members of the Speciality Coffee Association of Europe will promote their products; coffee symposia will give greater insights into the world of coffee; and the National Barista Championships will see the best coffee-makers in action, with the winner representing Ireland at the World Championships. |

| CATEX COCKTAIL COMPETITION |
| Organised by the Bartenders Association of Ireland (BAI) the CATEX Cocktail Competition presents bartenders and mixologists from restaurants, hotels and bars all over Ireland. The Catex Cocktail Competition, is the qualifying round for Ireland's entry to the World Cocktail Competition. |
