From City Centre
By Car
Outside Trinity College, take Nassau Street (N11) for about 150 metres then turn right following the signposts for the R118.
Follow the R118 (also locally known Mount Street – turns into Merrion Road) for approximately 2km. The RDS Showgrounds will be situated on the right hand side.
By Bus
The RDS Showground is serviced by bus routes number 7, 5 and 45, which stop outside the Main Hall Entrance to the RDS on Merrion Road. These bus services can be availed of on Nassau Street outside Trinity College.
Bus Eireann is the National Bus Service and operates commuter bus services from Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford stopping in many of the towns on the way. Bus Eireann also operate national routes from all over Ireland. The Central Bus Station is called Busáras and is located on Store Street in Dublin 1. It is linked to the RDS by the DART from Connolly Station which is 3 minutes’ walk from Busáras. From Local Train Lines
Located in close proximity to the RDS is the DART line. The closest DART station to the RDS is Sandymount.
Directions on foot from the Sandymount Dart Station:
• Follow the Exit signs and turn right onto Sandymount Avenue
• Continue until you reach the traffic lights (Bewleys and the Four Seasons Hotel will be directly in front of you)
• For the RDS Main Complex then turn right onto Merrion Road and the Main Complex is situated on the left hand side (Merrion Road).
• For the Simmonscourt Complex continue straight ahead from the traffic lights at the crossroads, passing Bewleys on your left: the Simmonscourt Complex is on the left hand side after the office buildings

From Main Train Lines
There are two main train stations in Dublin: Connolly & Heuston.
Dublin Heuston Station Dublin and Connolly Station Dublin. Heuston Station has trains to/from the following locations: Ballina, Westport, Galway, Limerick, Ennis, Tralee, Cork, and Waterford. Connolly Station has trains to/from Belfast, Sligo, Wexford and Rosslare Europort
You can connect to the DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) directly from Connolly station to Ballsbridge (Sandymount DART Station).
You can connect to the Luas directly at Heuston station and transfer to the DART at Connolly station to Ballsbridge (Sandymount DART Station).
LUAS
There is no direct route from the LUAS to the RDS, however, the LUAS does connect to the DART local train system that passes by the RDS. The LUAS connects to the DART at Connolly Station. Connections to Heuston Station and National rail routes can then be reached through this stop. Connolly Station is accessible by lift and there are two wheelchair areas on board each Luas.
Car Parking
Under regular circumstances, the Merrion Road Car Park is open year-round from 7.30am – 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Simmonscourt and Anglesea Road Car Parks are only open for particular events. A flat fee is charged upon entry as outlined above and parking is provided on a first come first served basis.

Travelling from Abroad
From the Airport
By Taxi
Taxis are available at the Taxi rank outside Arrivals. Expect to pay between €30 and €40.
By Bus
The RDS is only 16km from Dublin International Airport. An Aircoach to Ballsbridge runs from outside the Airport every 15 minutes with bus stops outside the Main Hall entrance to the RDS and Bewleys Hotel on Simmonscourt Road. The journey costs €14 return and takes approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic.
From the Ferry
Dublin has two ferry ports - Dublin Port and Dun Laoghaire. Irish Ferries and Stena Line are the two ferry lines that operate at these ports. Dublin Port is on the north of the city approximately ten minutes drive from the RDS. Dun Laoghaire Port, south of the city, is twenty minutes drive from the RDS.
From Dun Laoghaire Port by Bus
The no. 7 bus has bus stops at the corner of Merrion Road and Simmonscourt Road to access the Simmonscourt Complex and on the Merrion Road for the Main Complex. The no. 7 bus continues into the City Centre.
From Dun Laoghaire Port by Local Train
The DART service also operates from Dun Laoghaire. Times can be accessed at www.dart.ie.
